I’m on my good week, time for a little sit rep.
I’ve been better since last Wednesday actually, but life’s been busy with stem cell xplant consultation, and related things. This chemo protocol seems to build a cadence of 10 shit days with a lot of side effects, followed by 20 good days with a few, like (in my case) sleep issues during the night (mitigated by sleeping pills), stress issues during the day (mitigated by hyperactivity and stupid/fun homelab/home automation projects that I’ll post about on another blog, maybe), and an ear ringing, think when a flash grenade goes off in a movie… that’s my reality for now. This can be nerve damage, or low haemoglobin, or both. After round 1 it got better eventually… I hope it will again.
I now have a timeline for the rest of the year and early next year that covers the rest of the chemo, the stem cell harvest and transfer. There are another what, 3-4 shit weeks overall distributed over these 3 months, and then, if karma finally decides to let me off the hook, I’m done and can start recovering and easing back to normalcy. The next important date is next Tuesday, when my 3rd round starts. Fingers crossed!
To end on a high note: my arm (that got destroyed at the beginning of the 1st round) is now much better and finally straightens out (so I’m not walking like a T-Rex), my general condition is very good with somewhat lower blood counts (but this should recover by next week without external help), and nice long walks to retain some of the fitness I had, you know, before.
Godspeed!
