I’ve wanted to post a bit of a #lifeupdate for a while now, because, well, not a lot has happened and that’s good.
My blood results are finally out of red as of last week: most importantly I guess, Hb count is at the bottom of the “good” range so still a bit to improve, but it’s monotone increasing, hello high school math students. (Life pro tip: don’t lose your red blood cells, it takes forever to regrow them!) White blood counts have been in the green for a while now, but with my CTLA-4 I’m (evidently) susceptible to get all the generic flus, so taking my mondkapje to Albert Heijn is just something I have to get used to. I also have to be very selective over what days I’m going outside with the bike… windy weather is prohibitive, which is a bit of an issue, me living in NL and all.
(Side note: the solution is to go gravelling in forests that mercifully block/dilute the wind… except the nearest forest is a 40k bike ride away for me and I can only ride 20 with my current level of fitness… but I have a (second!) car so there’s a solution. Tl;dr there’s a solution to everything just a bit of an additional hassle. Oh and btw my ITBS is now good enough so that I can walk 10k without pretty much any knee pain, so there’s that too.)
I’m still struggling with some (digestion related) post chemo side effects, apparently these can easily last for a year.
Stem cell transplant will not happen this year. There are many questions still to explore, and my job for this year is to recover physically. So this decision is postponed to next year.
And with this, I will now hibernate this blog for a while. I did, in fact, not get on the cart. I, once more, chose life, with the job, the car, the fucking big television, and the electrical tin opener.

Great news, GergÅ‘, thanks for the update. We are entering the nicest part of the year so there’s that, too. Take care and happy hybernating!
